Can my children learn about the stock market and stock trading with the Beat the Market Package software?
Absolutely! The games are fast-paced and interactive. They are driven by real historical data so the action is realistic. Quick decisions must be made on whether to buy, hold, or sell stocks and can become very exciting as players compete against each other and the market averages in an attempt to make the most money and win the game.
Can I play these games with my kids?
Yes, our games may be played with one or two players and as always the market averages are also involved in the game for added excitement and realism. |
If my goal was to become a better investor and stock trader using Beat the Market software, is there a recommended strategy for doing so using the games and tools provided?
Yes, we recommend the following steps:
- Study the information contained in Trading Tips
- Review the examples given in Spectacular Winners and Dismal Losers. See where you would have bought and sold these stocks based on what you learned in Trading Tips.
- Practice stock trading using the interactive games such as Beat the Market, Market Timing, or 30 Day Challenge.
- Use the Stock Evaluation Worksheet to quickly and objectively analyze real stocks you are considering for purchase on Wall Street.

What if I wanted to test and possibly improve my short term trading skills?
We would suggest you play the 30 Day Challenge game. A graph will be shown and you must decide the short term direction of the stock. Make your prediction and in 5 seconds the answer will be revealed through an animated graph.

What about other types of trading such as trading on margin and short selling?
Beat the Market is very realistic and allows you to trade on margin, sell short, stay in cash and draw interest, etc., just like on Wall Street.

How many new stock tips will I receive each month?
Normally between 3 and 7 new tips will be released each month; however the exact number depends on overall market conditions and the number of stocks that meet our stringent criteria for selection.
How can I review the historical results of tips posted on this website?
All closed trades (tips that have received a Buy and Sell recommendation) will be listed under the Closed Tips link. There you will see the historical track record of Quick Profit Stock Tips. Just remember that past performance is never a guarantee of future performance and our stock tips are provided for informational purposes only. Always do your own research before puchasing a stock since stocks involve risk that could result in the loss of some or all of your investment.
How will I know when it is time to sell a stock that was previously recommended?
A Buy tip is issued when a stock meets our criteria for purchase and a Sell tip is issued when we believe the risk/reward ratio of the stock has moved high enough to sell the stock and look for other more favorable opportunities, i.e., stocks with a better risk / reward ratio. All SELL tips are listed on the Closed Tips page.
Do you issue “Buy Long” and “Sell Short” tips?
No, we only issue Buy Long tips, meaning we believe the stock will rise when the initial tip for a particular stock is issued. We close the position with a Sell tip as outlined above. When selling short a trader opens the position by selling the stock first and then buys it back later to close the position. This is known as “Selling Short” and “Covering a Short”.
Selling Short can be very risky and is recommended only for the most experienced traders; therefore we don’t consider it suitable for those who may be novice traders using our tips service.
However, we do sometimes recommend a Bearish Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). These are bought and sold like a normal stock, i.e., not sold short, but on these the price would normally rise as the stock market falls.
When should I buy the stock highlighted by the tip?
We recommend you buy it as soon as possible provided it is not more than 5% above the price shown in the tip. Our tips are always issued after the market close and reflect the last closing price of the stock available when the tip is issued. Buying a stock at a price more than 5% above our recommended price would be considered “chasing” a stock and can often be a mistake.
Do those involved in issuing the tips ever trade in these securities themselves?
Yes, our staff may be long, short, or have no position at all in the stocks recommended through this service at the time they are issued or while the tip is still open. Most QPST tips involve stocks with an average volume of more than 100,000 shares per day so our limited share activity would normally have little to no effect on the movement of the stock. Occasionally a stock with lower liquidity will be highlighted if it is perceived to be a stock with low risk / high reward potential. Again we recommend you not buy the stock at a price which is 5% or more above the price indicated when the tip was issued.
